Washington Butler, born in Puyallup Washington State, became fascinated by arts when she was an infant. She performed at schools and at the community theatre. The actress moved to Los Angeles to study theatre at the University of Southern California and later, she played Belle the princess in Beauty and the Beast for a year and a half at Disneyland. Her departure from college was to find an agent. Then she began doing auditions and appearing on TV as well as film. Butler appeared as a guest star in the TV show CSI: Miami, CSI: NY. She has also appeared in two films: A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser (2008) as well as Flu Bird Horror (2008 Syfy TV Horror Film). The year before, she was an actor in the Don Stark web-series Luke 11-17. Butler was also a regular part on I Love Vampires, a web series. Butler won the leading role in the 2010 thriller about rape and revenge I Spit on Your Grave. This remake is a re-make from 1978 of the beloved iconic film with the same title. The film initially was a turn-off for her because it was awash in violence, nudity and female subtexts. But the compelling narrative and feminist elements made her choose to take on the lead role. The film was directed by Steven R. Monroe was made available in the month of October. Butler began shooting The Stranger Within, a psychological thriller with Estella Warr as well as William Baldwin on Mallorca in Spain, in November 2011. The film was also set to shoot on location in Copenhagen Denmark and New York City.She was part of the crew for the independent feature Treachery with Michael Biehn which began filming in Los Angeles in June 2012. Butler co-starred with Michael Welch in 2013's horror film The Demented.

Ferland was just four years old when she first made her television and film debut in Mermaid. Ferland received an Emmy Award Nomination for the TV Film.
